Introduction: Brief introduction mentions how the most often told folktales have passive young women and evil old women. Lipman has chosen stories with strong female characters.

Organization: This is an audio collection. There is no table of contents. The stories and their sources are listed on the packaging.

The stories themselves: These tales are excellently told, but these versions would be copyrighted. If one wanted to retell these stories, it would be better to go to the source or sources. These tales could be enjoyed by ages eight to adult.

Source Notes: The brief source notes list the history and the source of the tales and also some indication of how Lipman changed them in his telling.
